OK, a number of us in the Club chased the Skwalas this year and last in the Baiocchi workshops. With some success, albeit it seemed much more challenging on the dry fly side, and I'm not sure if anyone actually got one on a dry. I certainly tired, and tried, and tried with my only success nymphing Skwala nymph patterns.
But the Jensen's (via MidCurrent) tackled this head on and you can see just how challenging it really is. Using a spotter helps, but accurate casts, the right "twitch", and fighting them effectively to the net is essential.
This high quality video is about 30 minutes and quite entertaining with big browns searching for Skwalas. Anybody want to be a spotter next year on the Yuba?
