Event Description: Cancelled  Day trip including on site BBQ lunch

This is a bass trip to Kistler bass ponds outside of Oakdale, California.  It is an unguided trip, and an excellent one for both families and those new to fly fishing.  It is close to the Tri-Valley, has excellent shore access as well, and can accommodate large groups such as TVFF on several different ponds.

Fishing is available from either the shoreline or from float tubes or pontoon boats.

Cost:

Cost includes a Club offered and cooked BBQ lunch.

Cash price: You may pay by check or cash directly to the Club Treasurer within two weeks of registration and not pay the credit card surcharge of 3.0% if you desire. If you do pay cash you will be put into "Pending Registration" until your payment is received within the two weeks. Late payments will require you to register once again if there is space still available. The cash price for this trip is $35 for TVFF members and $80 for non-members and guests that includes an annual membership to TVFF.

Credit Card price: Price of $36.05 includes the payment by credit card with the 3.0% surcharge. Guest cost is $81.05 for non-members and guests that includes an annual membership to TVFF.

Fishmeister:  Ken Tetzel

Accommodations and Food: Each individual attending will be offered a Club BBQ and drinks consisting of grilled hamburgers or Chicken with sides.  Unfortunately due to the location and limited facilities, we cannot accommodate food requests such as gluten free, paleo, etc. so if you require special food requirements please make the necessary arrangements to bring whatever you need.  The Club will provide water and soft drinks for everyone attending.

Gear and Tackle Recommendations:

Rod & line weights/types: I use a 7wt rod with a floating line. 6 wt rods would be fine also. Some guys use a Sink Tip and strip large flies if the top water action is slow.

Leaders and tippet: For myself, the leader set-up isn’t critical. 10 or 15 lb mono around 6-8’ is fine. Whatever feels good turning over larger flies. Keep it simple.

Flies: Like all fly fishing, what to use can be a good question! I prefer to use hard body bass poppers in a medium size and blue gill poppers on occasion.  Frog olive and is my go to color. I enjoy chasing bass with top water flies. It’s not always the most productive but it makes me feel good! If you decide to fish wet; Muddlers, Wooly Buggers, Hares Ear Nymphs, Damsel Fly Nymphs, Light Clousers and any other recommendations from club members.

Other Gear: Beer, bourbon, lawn chairs, bug repellent, camera, water, determination and a few good jokes! Kistler is a fun kinda’ fishin’ place. It’s not like the high stress trout fishing at all. Enjoy!

TVFF Cancellation Policy:

To sign-up for a TVFF Event  that is currently open for registration and chargeable (as set by the Fishmeister), you must both register and pay online, or via check or cash, within two weeks of registering (sent to the TVFF Treasurer) whatever fee is described for that particular Event (trip) at the time of registration. There may be multiple payments required before the trip is actually taken (usually in the case of expensive trips), but it is necessary that you do make payment in the above timely fashion for the initial amount to secure your position on the trip.  However, please note that you are still responsible for the entire amount of the trip if you should need to cancel.

Once you are registered, there are no refunds for chargeable Events and trips.  In the situation that a member is, for any reason unable to attend, they may resell their registration slot to another TVFF member (by first pulling from the waitlist if one exists).  New participants must come first from the waitlist in the order they signed up.  The member cancelling is fully and solely responsible for contacting potential members to replace them and notifying the appropriate Fishmeister.

If an event/trip is fully registered and closed to registration, you may still sign up on the Wait List to be notified if there are any cancellations.  In such a case of registering provisionally on the Wait List, you do not have to pay until such time that you clear the Wait List and are confirmed for participation.
